Adult Education Mission

The purpose of Adult Education at Mahoning County Career and Technical Center (MCCTC) is to meet the needs of local workers and the interests of the community through:

  • Vocational/Technical Training
  • Retraining Courses
  • Special Interest and Cultural Classes
  • Academic Courses

Any adult 19 years or older may register for general classes regardless of previous educational background. Students that are registering for a Career Development Program are required to have a High School Diploma or GED. All classes are organized and taught to benefit all adult students. All courses are offered without regard to race, color, national origin, sex or handicap. Every effort has been made to meet the needs of those with learning disabilities through individual instruction.

Adult Education Philosophy:

Adult Education is an integral part of the total education program at the Mahoning County Career and Technical Center. Our citizens help comprise a work force in one of the leading manufacturing areas in the nation and are interested in self-improvement. Therefore, the Board of Education provides a program of evening and daytime adult classes.

The purpose of the adult classes is to meet the vocational/technical training and retraining needs of local workers and the cultural, vocational and academic interests of the community. Adult Education is staffed by well-qualified certified instructors. Participation of representatives of the community, cooperation with local organizations and agencies, and assessment of the needs and resources of the community combine to develop quality programs.

There is strong cooperation between the secondary staff members and the post secondary education program administration and staff. All equipment and facilities are equally shared among the district.
