Career Certification Program
Required Informational Session and Orientation

The Medical Assistant program provides training to obtain entry-level employment in the health care setting.  The Medical Assistant performs administrative and certain clinical duties under the direction of the physician.

Medical Assistants perform many tasks:
* Greets and interviews patients to obtain medical information
* Measure patient vital signs, height and weight
* Record information on patient charts
* Assist in examination and treatment of patients
* Prepare and administer medications as directed by physician
* Authorize drug refills and provide prescription information to pharmacies
* Schedule appointments
* Updating and filing medical records
* Completing insurance forms/billing

Certifications:
* CMA (AAMA)
* Phlebotomy
* EKG Technician

Program Prerequisites:
* High School Diploma or GED
* Informational Session and Orientation
* TABE Assessment Testing - Reading 11th grade level / Math 10th grade level

The Medical Assistant program is accredited by the American Association of Medical Assistants.
