Student-run restaurant, The Bistro, opens at MCCTC
The last piece of the Mahoning County Career and Technical Center’s 35,000 square-foot construction project, The Bistro at MCCTC, is set to open to the public on Tuesday Nov. 16.
The Bistro is a student-operated restaurant located within the Career Center that gives Culinary Arts students the chance to gain experience working in a real restaurant. From seating and serving guests in the dining room to running the kitchen staff as Sous Chef, students gain invaluable experience at all levels of the operation while still in high school.
The restaurant boasts new equipment and larger work spaces in the kitchen, a larger dining room with views of the pond and separate parking and entrances for the general public.
Freshly prepared soups, salads, sandwiches, entrees and desserts are available with everything made by the students under the supervision of Culinary Arts Instructor Chef Matt Putzier. Entrees start at just $6 with sandwiches starting $5.
Restaurant hours are Tuesday-Thursday 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for dine in and carry out through the spring. The Bistro can also accommodate large groups. To make a group reservation, please call The Bistro at 330-729-4000 ext. 1506. Fall and winter operating dates are:
